since the advent of really badass firewire and USB interfaces, i'm truly not convinced that brand matters as much as it used to provided you get a decently spec'ed machine, a gaggle of ram, and at least 2 HDs.
if you do go PC, it would be wise to make sure that whatever you do end up is running XP. but you probably knew that.
